Notes
Notes
- If you choose an inside mount, a 1/8“ light gap will be visible between the fabric and the wall.
- For honeycomb shades, always raise and lower them by pulling straight up or down from the center. Do not pull from one side only or forcefully drag them, as this may cause damage or uneven operation.
These are top-down bottom-up double-cell honeycomb shades — you control the upper and lower halves of the window independently. Lower the shade from the top to let in sky light while keeping the lower pane covered for street-level privacy, raise it from the bottom, or use both at once. The double-cell honeycomb traps two layers of air for strong thermal and acoustic insulation, and it's cordless and child-safe. Custom-made in 19 colors. From $166.00.
Is This the Right Shade for Your Window?
Street-facing privacy
Raise the shade from the bottom to cover the lower pane and keep prying eyes out, while leaving the top open for daylight. Ideal for ground-floor bedrooms, apartments, and offices that face the street or a neighbor.
Bathrooms & kitchens
Get privacy exactly where you need it. Cover the lower window for a private bath or kitchen while the top stays open for natural light and airflow. Keep in mind cellular shades are spot-clean only, not for high-moisture washing.
West-facing & bright rooms
The double-cell honeycomb blocks heat and glare from harsh afternoon sun. Lower it from the top to cut the glare on your screen while still borrowing light and a view up high — no need to sit in the dark.
Bedrooms needing quiet & warmth
The double-cell structure adds thermal insulation against cold and heat, and dampens outside noise for calmer sleep. Cordless and child-safe, with permanent shaping that keeps crisp folds over time.
Good to know: The top-down bottom-up mechanism uses a center vertical pull, so it's best for standard and moderate window widths rather than very wide spans. Always raise and lower from the center of the shade.

Measure Width and Length Correctly
Shades can be inside or outside mounted. Considering the window frame depth is the first step.
-
- A clean, built-in look, 2 inches minimum depth requirement;
- 1/4 inch headrail deduction taken at your actual measuring to ensure the side does not touch the edges tightly;
- Note there will be slight gaps on the sides due to fabric deductions.
-
- No minimum depth requirement.
- We recommend ordering additional width 4-6 inches to prevent light gaps on the sides of your window.
Maintain Elegance with Simple Everyday Habits
-
Correct Operation
- Always pull from the center to keep force balanced.
- Lower slowly and evenly.
-
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Side pulling: it strains the fabric and rollers.
- Pull at an angle.
- Let it snap down.
-
Do-Not-Do for Motorized Shades
- Never force a stuck shade stop or realign.
- Keep the path clear.
- Let each cycle finish before reversing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does "top-down bottom-up" mean and how does it work?
The shade has two independent zones. You can lower it from the top to let light in through the upper part while the bottom stays covered, raise it from the bottom like a normal shade, or set both at once. This lets you get daylight and privacy at the same time — something a standard one-way shade can't do.
Are these cordless and child- and pet-safe?
Yes. These are cordless shades with no dangling pull cords, which is the safest choice around children and pets. Operate them with a gentle push or pull from the center of the shade.
How much do double-cell honeycomb shades help with heat and energy?
The double-cell (twin honeycomb) structure traps two separate layers of air at the window, which slows heat transfer better than a single-cell shade. That means less heat gain on west-facing windows in summer and less heat loss in winter, helping keep rooms comfortable and easing your heating and cooling load.
Do they reduce outside noise?
Yes. The trapped air in the double honeycomb cells absorbs and dampens sound, so street and outdoor noise is noticeably softer than with a flat roller or blind — a helpful bonus for bedrooms and home offices.
Are these light-filtering or full blackout?
This double-cell shade is light-filtering: it softens daylight and gives strong daytime privacy while keeping a bright, glare-free room. It is not a full blackout shade — if you need total darkness for a bedroom, choose a blackout honeycomb instead. Order free swatches to check the light level before you buy.
How do I measure — inside or outside mount?
For an inside mount you need a window depth of at least 2"; give your exact casing width and subtract 1/4" yourself (e.g. a 50" casing = order 49 3/4"). For an outside mount (depth under 2"), add 2" to the width and 3" to the height for full coverage. A small 1/8" light gap on the sides is normal on inside mounts.
Do they work on very wide windows?
Top-down bottom-up shades work best on standard and moderate widths because the mechanism uses a center vertical pull. For very wide windows we recommend splitting into two shades on one headrail or choosing a different style — text us your measurements and we'll advise the best setup.
What colors and sizes are available?
These come in 19 colors, from Frost White and neutral greys to Sage Leaf, Tiffany Teal, and Deep Marsala, and every shade is custom-made to your exact window size. Order free swatches to see the colors in your own light before deciding.
