They are the same thing. "Cellular shades" and "honeycomb shades" are two names for the same product — window shades made from fabric with hexagonal air-pocket cells. Cell size determines insulation strength. The 1.5" double cell has a larger air pocket and two layers of cells, making it a stronger thermal barrier — best for bedrooms, living rooms, and cold climates. The 1" single cell is thinner and lighter, and is the format used for specialty options: waterproof (bathroom/kitchen), no-drill (tension bracket), glass door, and skylight installation. If insulation is the priority, choose 1.5". If you need waterproofing or a special mount, choose 1".

Only the 1" Waterproof Honeycomb Shades are rated for wet rooms. They use a waterproof, mildew-resistant fabric that handles bathroom steam and kitchen splashes. The 1.5" double cell shades (standard honeycomb, Day and Night, TDBU) use standard fabric that will absorb moisture and degrade in high-humidity environments. If the installation is in a bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room, choose the waterproof 1" version specifically.

Day and Night Cellular Shades have two fabric zones built into a single shade: one sheer panel and one blackout panel.
