Also known as soft fold roman shades, this style keeps its cascading folds visible even when fully lowered. Each overlapping fold creates gentle depth and shadow, giving your windows a fuller, drapery-like finish. A waterfall top carries the fabric over the headrail for a continuous look.

What are hobbled Roman shades?

Hobbled Roman shades, also called soft fold Roman shades, have overlapping horizontal folds that remain visible when lowered. The layered fabric creates a fuller look with soft shadows.

How do hobbled and flat Roman shades differ?

A hobbled shade keeps its cascading folds visible across the face. A flat Roman shade has a smooth front panel when lowered. Choose hobbled for decorative volume or flat for a cleaner surface.

Which fabric and colors are available?

This product uses the 89850 series in 38 colors. The fabric is 10% linen and 90% polyester with a weight of 395 gsm. Order a swatch to compare texture and color in your own room.

Can hobbled Roman shades be made with blackout lining?

Yes, blackout lining is available as an upgrade. Light may still enter around the edges, so consider mounting coverage and side curtains when planning a bedroom.

Which lift systems are supported?

The hobbled construction supports cordless, continuous-loop and motorized configurations. All use a waterfall finish. The technical guide does not list top-down/bottom-up or dual-layer configurations for this style.

What custom sizes are supported?

Cordless: 16–72 inches wide and 24–84 inches high. Continuous loop: 18–72 inches wide and 20–96 inches high. Motorized: 23–96 inches wide and 18–120 inches high. Contact us about dimensions outside these ranges.

Can I use an inside or outside mount?

Both are supported. Inside mounting requires clearance for the selected headrail and brackets; outside mounting needs enough overlap and space above the opening for the raised folds. Confirm measurements using the shade measuring guide.

How do I clean these linen-blend Roman shades?

Dust or gently vacuum regularly and spot-clean as needed. Do not machine wash or dry clean.
