What is a Top Down Bottom Up Shade?

EaseEase Top Down Bottom Up (TDBU) shades allow you to lower the top or raise the bottom of the shade independently. This gives you more control over privacy, light, and view — perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, or street-facing windows.

Can top down bottom up shades be made with a corded lift system?

Yes, corded top down bottom up shades are possible, but we generally don't recommend them. They typically use two separate cords—one for the top and one for the bottom—and must be operated in the correct sequence, making daily adjustments less convenient. If you're concerned about reaching high windows to operate cordless shades, we recommend motorized top down bottom up shades instead. Motorized options are available on select models.

What’s the difference between the honeycomb and bamboo versions?

Honeycomb shades provide superior insulation and energy efficiency with a sleek, modern look.Bamboo shades offer a natural, textured feel and gently filter light while maintaining privacy. Both support the same TDBU function.

Are TDBU shades suitable for oversized windows?

Yes, we support widths up to 90.5 inches for a single shade. For wider openings, we recommend splitting the window into multiple custom panels for better function and shipping safety.

Can I use these shades in a bathroom or kitchen?

Yes. Our honeycomb TDBU shades are made with moisture-resistant materials suitable for humid environments like bathrooms and kitchens. Bamboo shades can also be used, but we recommend proper ventilation to avoid warping over time.

How do I measure for inside-mount top down bottom up shades?

Measure the inside width at the top, middle, and bottom, and use the smallest measurement. Check the specific product's required width deduction and minimum mounting depth before ordering. Measure the height in three places and follow the product's sizing instructions.

Do top down bottom up shades provide complete blackout?

Blackout fabric can block light passing through the shade material, but light may still enter around the edges, especially with inside mounts. For a darker bedroom, consider outside mounting with adequate overlap or pairing the shade with blackout curtains.

Can motorized top down bottom up shades move the top and bottom at the same time?
