• Just touching the floor (a “kiss”) — a crisp, tailored look that stays clean and is easy to move around the table.
• A slight break (1–3 inches extra) — a softer, more luxurious drape for a high-end feel.

Avoid curtains that hang above the floor in a formal setting — they tend to look short and casual.

To make a small dining room look bigger:

• Mount the rod high, close to the ceiling, and extend it wider than the window on both sides.
• Choose light, airy fabrics such as sheers or pale light-filtering linens.
• Hang floor-to-ceiling panels to draw the eye upward and make the room feel taller and more open.
