Ramie woven shades

The most popular option. Ramie is a natural plant fiber finer than bamboo reed, with a clean, even weave. More mildew-resistant than standard bamboo. Comes in light, neutral tones: natural, cream, ivory, almond, cashew, ink. Most styles in this collection.

Jute woven shades

A coarser, more textured weave with warm earthy tones — bark and cinnamon. One option (Jute Bamboo Shades Outdoor) is rated for covered outdoor use, making it the only outdoor-ready woven shade in this collection.

Linen + bamboo Roman shades

Combines a linen face fabric with a bamboo frame structure in a soft Roman fold. The most fabric-like look of the three — drapes in soft horizontal pleats. Closest to a traditional Roman shade, just with natural woven texture.

Two things about natural woven shades that surprise first-time buyers:
  • Not waterproof — do not install in bathrooms or kitchens. Natural fibers (ramie, jute, bamboo, linen) absorb moisture and will swell, warp, or grow mildew in high-humidity rooms. For bathrooms and kitchens, choose Solar Shades or 1" Waterproof Honeycomb Shades instead.
  • Natural color variation is expected — each shade is handcrafted (approximately 3 meters woven per day). Color and texture can vary slightly between panels and orders. Order free swatches before committing to a color, especially for multiple windows.

What is the difference between bamboo, jute, and ramie woven shades?

Ramie is a plant fiber with a fine, even weave — more mildew-resistant and lighter in tone than traditional bamboo reed. Most EaseEase styles are Ramie. Jute has a coarser, warmer weave in earthy brown tones (bark and cinnamon); one Jute style is rated for outdoor use. Linen + Bamboo Roman Shades combine a linen face fabric with a bamboo structure in a soft Roman fold — the most fabric-like silhouette of the three.

Are bamboo shades waterproof? Can I use them in a bathroom or kitchen?

No. Natural fibers (ramie, jute, bamboo, linen) absorb moisture and will swell, warp, or grow mildew in high-humidity environments. Do not install woven natural shades in bathrooms, kitchens, or laundry rooms. For moisture-heavy rooms, choose Solar Shades (waterproof solar fabric) or 1" Waterproof Honeycomb Shades instead.

Do bamboo shades block light completely?

Woven natural fiber shades filter and soften light beautifully but are not lightproof by themselves. However, EaseEase bamboo and roman shades can be ordered with a blackout liner, which significantly increases light blocking. Check the fabric/liner selector on each product page for the blackout option. Without a liner, they are light-filtering and room-darkening, not true blackout.

Why do EaseEase bamboo shades look lighter and fresher than others I've seen?

Most EaseEase bamboo shades are made from Ramie — a natural plant fiber that weaves finer and more evenly than traditional bamboo matchstick reed. The result is a cleaner, lighter color palette (natural, cream, ivory, almond) instead of the dark yellow-brown associated with standard bamboo blinds. Ramie is also more mildew-resistant than bamboo.

Which EaseEase bamboo shade works for outdoor use?

The Jute Bamboo Shades Outdoor (cinnamon) is the only option in this collection specifically rated for covered outdoor installations — patios, pergolas, and covered porches. All other styles are for indoor use only.
