Guidance on Curtain Linings

Lining is a fabric sewn to the back of drapery or shades, typically attached along the sides while leaving the bottom unsewn.

Its benefits include enhanced sun protection, improved insulation, and better light control. Lining can provide a polished finish to curtains, making them softer, blocking out sunlight, reducing noise, and insulating against heat and cold. This helps to minimize energy loss through windows.

Most market blackout linings use chemical coatings for effective light blocking, but they can emit harmful substances under sun exposure. Our linings are purely physical, environmentally safe, and suitable for infants and mothers.

Unlined

  • Adding a lining is usually unnecessary unless superior light-blocking is needed.
  • Light-blocking capability varies with fabric color; lighter colors block less light.
  • For white curtains, adding a lining is recommended for improved light-blocking performance.
