Not our most-ordered style — but the one with the highest reorder rate.

Most curtain fabrics are getting thinner. These luxury blackout curtains go the other direction — a genuinely heavyweight blackout drapery that almost no one else in the market is willing to make, because the fabric cost alone makes it hard to price competitively. The moment it's hung, you understand why it exists: that slow, elegant fall to the floor, the kind of drape that whispers rather than shouts. Heavyweight blackout curtains do that. Lightweight ones don't.

Green and Oatmeal are our favorite colorways. Slightly vintage in feeling, reading as solid from across the room, but up close revealing a subtle texture that rewards a second look. Understated and layered at once.

The thermal and acoustic performance is exceptional — this is a fabric that genuinely quiets a room. And because so few manufacturers work with fabric this heavy, the effect on the wall is immediate: it looks expensive, because it is.

If you're concerned about curtain rod weight capacity, we recommend pairing with our professional curtain rod collection.

Choosing the Right Curtain Header Style

The curtain header style can really change the look of your room. Whether it's a modern grommet, a classic rod pocket, or a neat pinch pleat, each style offers something unique. Think about what fits your space and what works best for light control !

Curtain Header Guide

Measure Width and Length Correctly

  • Rail Width

    • If you have a curtain track already, please upload its width (excluding the rod head);
    • If you don't have one, measure the desired curtain fabric width—usually the window frame width plus 16-20 inches.
  • Drop Length

    • The curtain fabric height typically extends 8 inches above the window frame;
    • For Pleated style, measure from track ring to floor; For Grommet & Rod Pocket, measure from rod top to floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes these heavyweight chenille curtains special?

They're a genuinely heavyweight blackout chenille drapery that few makers produce because the fabric cost is so high. That weight gives a slow, elegant floor-length drape, an expensive look, and strong performance that lightweight blackout curtains can't match.

Are these true blackout curtains?

Yes, the dense heavyweight chenille blocks light effectively for a dark room. For total darkness at the edges, use an overlapping or wider outside mount, or pair with side coverage.

Do they help with heat and noise?

Yes. The thermal and acoustic performance is exceptional: the heavy fabric holds warm air in winter, blocks summer heat, and genuinely quiets a room by absorbing outside noise.

What colors are available, and which do you recommend?

A range of colorways; Green and Oatmeal are our favorites, slightly vintage in feeling, reading as solid from across the room but revealing subtle texture up close.

What rod or track should I use with such heavy curtains?

Because the fabric is heavy, use a sturdy rod or track rated for the weight. We recommend pairing with our professional curtain rod collection or a ceiling track. Tell us your header style and we'll advise.

What header styles can I choose, and how full should they be?

Available in a range of header styles (pinch pleat, grommet, rod pocket, and more). For a full, luxurious drape order about 2 to 2.5 times your rod width, made to your exact length.

How do I care for heavyweight chenille curtains?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang to air dry; our high-temperature shaping keeps the pleats and drape intact. Avoid high heat.

Which rooms are these best for?

Bedrooms and living rooms where you want darkness, quiet, warmth, and a high-end, substantial look.
